Liberty of Oklahoma to Help Eliminate I/DD Waiting List

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OK DHS) contracts Liberty to provide Medicaid home and HCBS waiting list management and navigation.

September 28, 2021

On September 1, 2021, Liberty of Oklahoma began assessments to eliminate the waiting list for developmental disability home and community-based services (HCBS). OK DHS created the new service due to the increasing waitlist of over 5,800 people and wait time of 13 years.

Under this contract, Liberty will:

  • Implement and use a standardized assessment tool and case management system to assess everyone on the HCBS Waiver waiting list.
  • Connect individuals to community resources and other federal and state entitlement programs while they await services.
  • Develop strategies for waitlist management, assessment, and navigation that emphasize positive approaches aimed at skill enhancement.

This new service will be Liberty’s third contract for I/DD support in Oklahoma, following the Robert M. Greer Center and Laura Children’s Dester Children’s Center.
